SUMMMER / FALL 2012 CLASSES
We offer structured curriculum classes with flexible scheduling ranging from 4 week to 16 week programs.
*You must take the foundation classes before taking the more advanced or specific classes.
We also offer portfolio preparation and college application preparation consulting services which are separate from our structured class curriculum. The portfolio preparation class will be highly customized to fit your needs to create a tailored portfolio for your own professional or college entrance needs.
The following classes are available this term:
ARCHITECTURE [FOUNDATION CLASS A]
In this class the student will learn all the concepts related to architectural design studio taught at the university level, including cutting sections, understanding the plan and section, drawing and reading site plans, drawing floor plans and designing spaces from small scales to large scale.
DRAWING [FOUNDATION CLASS B]
This is an intensive drawing class focused on drawing from life. The student will draw exclusively from life including still life, drawing from trees, museums, self portraits, blind contours, and more. The medium will be vine charcoal, charcoal, pencil and mostly using black and white. Color will be used in the last few classes.
Painting class should be taken after taking the drawing class. This class takes drawing to the next level by incorporating color and new medium including acrylic, pastels, gesso and watercolors.
Students will learn the basic principles of graphic design including alignment, balance, consistency and repetition, proximity, the Golden Rectangle, white space and more. The student will also be exposed to using Adobe Photoshop, In Design and Illustrator.
The student of animation will learn about timing, key framing, acting, character development in relation to story, story development, basic 3D software understanding, and will make some short animation samples and sequences by hand and by computer.
COLLEGE PREPARATION PROGRAM
The Light & Structure teachers will get involved in the meat and potatoes of the college application process. They will help the student choose the right colleges for the art or architecture field of the student’s choice, as well as provide tips and critiques for college essays, applications, necessary paperwork, slides, photography of artwork, and more.
PORTFOLIO PREPARATION PROGRAM
This is a specialized preparation program designed to help the student prepare a professional portfolio for college admissions. It will also advise the student through finishing home tests from schools like RISD and Cooper Union give the student the ability to use our studio space in order to complete their projects.
